From EUR 180
The river Tejo runs through Lisbon like a blue ribbon glistening in the southern European sun, the very life source of this one-time fishing village. By the time it reaches Belém the smell of brine intensifies, the wind whips stronger and on the horizon, the seemingly endless Atlantic stretches out. It was here that Lisbon would go from a small fishing village to the world’s first global empire.
We start our tour with a visit to the world-famous Pasteis de Belém to taste the iconic pastry of Lisbon, the pastel de nata, and a traditional bica or coffee. Fully energized, we then head to the beautiful church of Santa Maria de Belém, a gem of the unique Portuguese Manueline architecture. We shall then visit one of the two UNESCO World heritage sites on our visit, the Monastery of St. Jerome (with skip-the-line access).
After a quick stop at the Monument to the discoveries, we stroll along the river to our second UNESCO site, the Tower of Belém, an impressive and lavishly decorated river fortress that demonstrates Portuguese Renaissance architecture at its best.
Cost: €180 for a group of up to 6 people.
For prepurchased entry tickets and Skip the line access to the Monastery of Jerome you must select the upgrade option at a cost of €15 per person.
